Shibuya Station’s A4 Exit: Between Scramble Crossing and 109
Shibuya Station’s A4 Exit is found on the path leading from Hachiko Square towards SHIBUYA 109, precisely at the midpoint between the Scramble Crossing and 109.
While it’s fairly straightforward to follow the “A4 Exit” signs if you’re coming from subway lines like the Hanzomon Line, for those arriving via JR lines or the Ginza Line and heading above ground, it’s easiest to aim for SHIBUYA 109 first.

Directions to Shibuya Station’s A4 Exit from Hachiko Square
Let’s start with directions from Hachiko Square in front of Shibuya Station.
- From Hachiko Square, cross the leftmost pedestrian crossing of the Scramble Crossing towards SHIBUYA 109.
- After crossing, continue straight towards 109.
- Walk a short distance, and you’ll see an underground exit immediately to your right. That’s “A4 Exit.”
The A4 Exit is just after you cross the Scramble Crossing.
Directions to Shibuya Station’s A4 Exit from JR Yamanote Line Shibuya Station
When coming from JR lines (such as the Yamanote Line or Shonan-Shinjuku Line), use the “Hachiko Exit.”
- After exiting the JR “Hachiko Gate,” step outside from the nearby “Hachiko Exit.”
- You will emerge into Hachiko Square. From there, cross the leftmost pedestrian crossing of the Scramble Crossing towards SHIBUYA 109.
- After crossing, continue straight towards 109.
- Walk a short distance, and you’ll see an underground exit immediately to your right. That’s “A4 Exit.”
After exiting Hachiko Gate, you’ll see 109 in front of you; walk towards it.
Directions to Shibuya Station’s A4 Exit from Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line Shibuya Station
From the Hanzomon Line and Den-en-toshi Line, first aim for the “Hachiko Gate.”
- Exit from the “Hachiko Gate” (Hachiko side). Note: This is in the same direction as A8 Exit, which leads to Hachiko Square. Be careful as there’s another gate on the opposite side.
- Upon exiting the gate, you’ll see an escalator and stairs diagonally to your front left. Take them up to the basement first floor (B1F).
- Once on B1F, you’ll see stairs directly in front of you. Go up these stairs, and you’ll emerge onto the ground level at “A4 Exit.”
From the Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line, you can reach the exit from the platform in about 2-3 minutes.
Directions to Shibuya Station’s A4 Exit from Toyoko Line / Fukutoshin Line Shibuya Station
From the Toyoko Line and Fukutoshin Line, first aim for the “Hachiko Gate.”
- Exit from the “Hachiko Gate” (Hachiko side). Note: This is in the same direction as A8 Exit, which leads to Hachiko Square. Be careful as there’s another gate on the opposite side.
- Upon exiting the gate, you’ll see an escalator and stairs diagonally to your front left. Take them up to the basement first floor (B1F).
- Once on B1F, you’ll see stairs directly in front of you. Go up these stairs, and you’ll emerge onto the ground level at “A4 Exit.”
There are two Hachiko Gates, so be careful to choose the one leading in the correct direction.
Directions to Shibuya Station’s A4 Exit from Inokashira Line Shibuya Station
From the Inokashira Line, exit from the gate labeled “Exit (Central Exit)” with a yellow sign.
- First, exit from the “Central Exit” gate.
- After exiting the gate, there’s an escalator diagonally to your front left. Take it down to the ground level.
- Upon exiting the escalator, turn left immediately. You’ll see a pachinko parlor called “ESPACE” diagonally to your front left. Take the narrow path to its right.
- Walk a short distance, and you’ll see a path bending to the left, but continue straight towards the path to your front right.
- This will lead you to the street connecting the Scramble Crossing and 109 (you’ll see Matsukiyo on the opposite side of the road). Turn right there.
- Immediately to your left after turning right, you’ll find an underground exit. That’s “A4 Exit.”
From the Inokashira Line gate, the A4 Exit is about a 3-minute walk.
Directions to Shibuya Station’s A4 Exit from Ginza Line Shibuya Station
From the Ginza Line, exit from the gate towards “Shibuya Scramble Square.”
- From the Ginza Line platform, first head towards the “Shibuya Scramble Square” gate. Note: There’s another gate on the opposite side, so be careful.
- After exiting the gate, there will be ticket machines to your left, but there’s a passageway to their right; go there.
- Once in the passageway, turn left immediately and continue straight along the path.
- After about 30 seconds of walking, you’ll find an escalator. Take it down.
- After exiting the escalator, you’re still on the second floor. There’s another escalator going down immediately to your right; take that one further down.
- After exiting that escalator, you’ll be on the ground level. Turn right immediately.
- Walk a short distance, and you’ll see “Miyamasuzaka-shita Intersection” in front of you. To your front left, there’s the JR “Miyamasuzaka Exit”; enter the building there.
- Continue straight, and you’ll reach the “Hachiko Exit” on the opposite side. Exit to the outside from there.
- You will emerge into Hachiko Square. From there, cross the leftmost pedestrian crossing of the Scramble Crossing towards SHIBUYA 109.
- After crossing, continue straight towards 109.
- Walk a short distance, and you’ll see an underground exit immediately to your right. That’s “A4 Exit.”
The Ginza Line is on the opposite side from A4 Exit, making it the furthest. It takes about 7-8 minutes from the platform.
