We’ll cover which train car to be in, how to get there via elevator, and how to access it from JR lines and various subway lines. This guide is updated to reflect the relocation of the JR Shibuya Station Hachiko Ticket Gate on January 26, 2026.

How to Get to the Inokashira Line’s Avenue Exit at Shibuya Station! From the Stairs Near Car No. 2
You can reach the Inokashira Line’s Avenue Exit at Shibuya Station by ascending the stairs located near Car No. 2 of the Inokashira Line.
The Inokashira Line platform is on the 2nd floor of the Shibuya Mark City building, but the Avenue Exit is on the 4th floor. Therefore, you must climb two flights of stairs from the platform to reach it.
After ascending the three sets of stairs, you will arrive at the 4th floor of Shibuya Mark City, where the Avenue Exit ticket gate is located.
While you can take a detour using escalators or elevators, it will take more time. (We will explain how to get there by elevator later.)
Avenue Exit is Open from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM
Please note that the Avenue Exit is only available from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM.
You likely won’t need to use it outside these hours, but it’s good to keep in mind that its operating hours are limited.
How to Get to the Inokashira Line’s Avenue Exit by Elevator
Here’s how to get to the Avenue Exit using an elevator.
- From the Inokashira Line platform, exit through the “Central Gate” located past Car No. 5.
- After exiting the gate, you’ll see an escalator to your front left. There’s an elevator before it; take that to the 4th floor.
- Once on the 4th floor, continue straight ahead. You’ll find a connecting passage. Cross it, and the Avenue Exit will be on your right.
You can also reach the Avenue Exit by taking the escalator located to your front right after exiting the ticket gate.
How to Get to the Inokashira Line Avenue Exit from JR Shibuya Station! From Hachiko Exit
Here’s how to get there from JR Shibuya Station. Let’s start from the Hachiko Exit.
- Exit the JR Shibuya Station Hachiko Ticket Gate, then turn left to exit from Hachiko Exit.
- Continue straight ahead. When you reach a street, turn left.
- On your right, where an overhead connecting passage is, there’s a crosswalk. Cross it.
- After crossing the crosswalk, Shibuya Mark City will be directly in front of you. There’s an escalator, but take the elevator behind it to the 4th floor.
- Once on the 4th floor, continue straight ahead (towards Dogenzaka-Ue). After walking for a bit, you’ll find a connecting passage. Cross it, and the Inokashira Line’s Avenue Exit will be immediately on your right.
It takes about 5 minutes from JR lines.
How to Get to the Inokashira Line Avenue Exit from Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line Shibuya Station! From Exit A5b
Here’s how to get to the Avenue Exit from the Hanzomon Line and Den-en-toshi Line. Aim for “Exit A5b”.
- From the Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line platform, take the escalator up near Car No. 8.
- Once you reach the upper floor, exit from the Hachiko Ticket Gate, which will be behind you to the left. Note: There are two Hachiko Ticket Gates; be sure to exit from the one that has signs for the “Inokashira Line.” The other side has signs for the Ginza Line.
- After exiting the gate, continue straight ahead. You’ll see an escalator and stairs to your front left; take those up.
- After getting off the escalator, turn left and continue.
- At the end of the passage, turn left, and you’ll immediately see stairs to your right. Take those to the ground level.
- Once on the ground level, continue straight ahead. Cross a small crosswalk, and Shibuya Mark City will be on your right. There’s an escalator at its entrance, but take the elevator behind it to the 4th floor of Shibuya Mark City.
- Once on the 4th floor, continue straight ahead (towards Dogenzaka-Ue). After walking for a bit, you’ll find a connecting passage. Cross it, and the Inokashira Line’s Avenue Exit will be immediately on your right.
It takes about 7-8 minutes from the Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line platform.
How to Get to the Avenue Exit from Toyoko Line / Fukutoshin Line Shibuya Station! From Exit A5b
Here’s how to get there from the Toyoko Line and Fukutoshin Line. First, move to the Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line platform, then aim for Exit A5b.
- From the Toyoko Line / Fukutoshin Line platform, take the escalator up near Car No. 5, Door 1.
- After getting off the escalator, turn left and continue straight for a while.
- You’ll find an escalator slightly to your left at the end of the passage. Take that up.
- You’ll then be on the Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line platform. Continue straight for a while, then take the escalator up near Car No. 5, Door 4.
- Once you reach the upper floor, exit from the Hachiko Ticket Gate to your front right. Note: There are two Hachiko Ticket Gates; be sure to exit from the one that has signs for the “Inokashira Line.” The other side has signs for the Ginza Line.

How to Get to the Inokashira Line’s Avenue Exit from the Ginza Line
From the Ginza Line platform, exit from the Scramble Square side ticket gate. Then aim for the Inokashira Line and head towards the Avenue Exit on the 4th floor of Shibuya Mark City.
- On the Ginza Line, be in Car No. 1 and exit from the “Scramble Square side ticket gate.”
- After exiting the gate, continue straight ahead.
- After walking for about 1 minute, you’ll find stairs at the end of the passage. Take those down.
- Continue down the stairs to your left at the next dead end.
- After descending the second set of stairs, turn right and continue diagonally to your front right for a while.
- You’ll find stairs at the end of that passage. Ascend them to reach the 2nd floor of Shibuya Mark City. After turning left, you’ll find an escalator and stairs. Take those up to the 3rd floor.
- Once on the 3rd floor, turn right, then turn left at the corner where Starbucks is located.
- You’ll find an escalator and stairs at the end of the passage. Take those up to the 4th floor.
- Once on the 4th floor, continue straight ahead (towards Dogenzaka-Ue). After walking for a bit, you’ll find a connecting passage. Cross it, and the Inokashira Line’s Avenue Exit will be immediately on your right.
It takes about 10 minutes from the Ginza Line. That’s all from Shibutama!
