Shibuya Station’s A2 Exit is Directly Under SHIBUYA 109

Shibuya Station’s A2 Exit is located directly beneath the right side of “SHIBUYA 109,” the iconic symbol of Shibuya. The path in front of 109 splits left and right; take the right path, and the exit will be immediately to your left.

From subway lines like the Hanzomon Line, simply follow the A2 Exit signs. However, if you’re coming from JR lines or the Ginza Line and plan to go above ground, aim for 109.

How to Get to Shibuya Station’s A2 Exit from Hachiko Exit

First, let’s look at how to get there from the Hachiko Exit in front of Shibuya Station.

  1. From the Hachiko Exit, cross the leftmost crosswalk of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, heading towards 109.
  2. After crossing the intersection, continue straight towards 109.
  3. Cross the crosswalk in front of 109. Once you’re directly under the 109 building, walk a short distance down the path on the right side of the building, and you’ll find the “A2 Exit.”

It takes just a few minutes to reach from the Hachiko Exit. Now, let’s look at how to get there from each train line.


How to Get to A2 Exit from JR Shibuya Station (Yamanote Line, etc.)

For JR lines (such as the Yamanote Line or Shonan Shinjuku Line), use the “Hachiko Exit.”

  1. After exiting the JR Hachiko ticket gate, go outside from the nearby “Hachiko Exit.”
  2. Once you exit the Hachiko Exit, proceed straight ahead to the “Shibuya Scramble Crossing.” Cross the leftmost crosswalk of the scramble crossing towards 109.
  3. After crossing the intersection, continue straight towards 109.
  4. After crossing the crosswalk in front of 109 and arriving directly under the 109 building, walk a short distance down the path on the right side of the building, and you’ll find the “A2 Exit.”

After exiting Hachiko Exit, you’ll see 109 directly in front of you, so walk towards it.


How to Get to A2 Exit from Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line Shibuya Station

From the Hanzomon Line and Den-en-toshi Line, first aim for the “Dogenzaka Gate.”

  1. First, exit from the “Dogenzaka Gate.”
    • The stairs to the Dogenzaka Gate are at the very far end of the platform towards Chuo-Rinkan.
  2. After exiting the gate, you’ll see an escalator and stairs in front of you; take them up one floor to B1F.
  3. Once you reach B1F, there will be a yellow sign indicating “A2 Exit” diagonally to your front-right; head there.
  4. Climb the stairs, and you’ll immediately find the underground entrance to 109. Go outside from there, and it’s the A2 Exit.

It takes about 2-3 minutes to reach from the platform of the Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line.


How to Get to A2 Exit from Toyoko Line / Fukutoshin Line Shibuya Station

Shibuya Station for the Toyoko Line and Fukutoshin Line is underground. First, aim for the “Dogenzaka Gate.”

  1. Try to be on Car No. 5 of the Toyoko Line / Fukutoshin Line.
  2. Take the escalator up from in front of Door 1 of Car No. 5.
  3. Go straight to the left, and take the escalator at the end up.
  4. You’ll then be on the Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line platform; continue along the platform and climb the stairs at the very end.
  5. After climbing the stairs, exit from the “Dogenzaka Gate.”
  6. After exiting the gate, you’ll see an escalator and stairs in front of you; take them up one floor to B1F.
  7. Once you reach B1F, there will be a yellow sign indicating “A2 Exit” diagonally to your front-right; head there.
  8. Climb the stairs, and you’ll immediately find the underground entrance to 109. Go outside from there, and it’s the A2 Exit.

It takes about 2-3 minutes to reach from the platform of the Toyoko Line / Fukutoshin Line.


How to Get to A2 Exit from Inokashira Line Shibuya Station

From Shibuya Station on the Inokashira Line, it’s easier to go above ground rather than underground. It takes about 10 minutes on foot from the Inokashira Line to B1 Exit.

  1. First, exit from the “Central Gate.”
  2. Immediately to your front-left after exiting, there’s an escalator; take it down to the ground level.
  3. After getting off the escalator, turn left immediately. You’ll see a pachinko parlor called “ESPACE” diagonally to your front-left; proceed down the road to its left.
  4. At the next T-junction, turn right. (You’ll see 109 in front of you.)
  5. Continue straight, and you’ll come out onto the street with 109. Once on the street, there’s a crosswalk to your right; cross it towards 109.
  6. The “A2 Exit” is located around the back side of the 109 building.

It takes about 3 minutes to reach the A2 Exit after exiting the Inokashira Line gate.


How to Get to A2 Exit from Ginza Line Shibuya Station

From the Ginza Line, use the “Scramble Square side ticket gate.” It’s easier to go above ground from the Ginza Line rather than underground.

  1. From the Ginza Line platform, first head to the “Scramble Square side ticket gate.” (Be careful, there’s also a gate on the opposite side.)
  2. After exiting the gate, there will be ticket machines to your left, but immediately to the right of those machines, there’s a passage; go there.
  3. Once in the passage, immediately turn left and proceed straight along the path.
  4. After walking for about 30 seconds, you’ll see an escalator; take it down.
  5. After getting off that escalator, you’ll still be on the 2nd floor. It might be a bit confusing for a moment, but there’s another escalator immediately to your right going down; take that one further down.
  6. After getting off that escalator, you’ll be on the ground level. Immediately turn right.
  7. Walk a short distance, and you’ll see the “Miyamasuzaka-shita Intersection” in front of you. To your front-left, there’s the JR “Miyamasuzaka Exit”; enter the building there.
  8. Continue straight through the building, and you’ll reach the “Hachiko Exit” on the opposite side; exit outside from there.
  9. After exiting the Hachiko Exit, proceed straight ahead to the “Shibuya Scramble Crossing.” Cross the Shibuya Scramble Crossing towards 109. (Cross to the right side of the road.)
  10. After crossing the intersection, continue straight towards 109.
  11. Once you reach 109, the “A2 Exit” is on the right side of the building.

The Ginza Line is on the opposite side from the A2 Exit, so it’s the furthest. It takes about 7-8 minutes from the platform.
