While you can reach the A1 Exit by simply following the signs from various subway lines, it can be tricky to find if you’re coming from ground level and don’t know the way. That’s why, in this guide, we’ll show you how to get there not only from the subway lines but also from Hachiko Square, JR Lines, Inokashira Line, and Ginza Line.

How to Get to A1 Exit from Hachiko Square

Here’s how to get to the A1 Exit from Hachiko Square (Hachiko-mae):

  1. From Hachiko Square, cross the farthest left crosswalk of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. This will lead you towards the Shibuya 109 building.
  2. After crossing the crosswalk, continue straight forward along that street. You’ll see Shibuya 109 directly in front of you.
  3. With Shibuya 109 on your right, cross the crosswalk directly ahead. On your left, you’ll see Shibuya Cine Tower, which houses TOHO Cinemas Shibuya. The A1 Exit is located right at its entrance.

You’ll find the A1 Exit directly to the left of Shibuya 109.

How to Get to A1 Exit from JR Shibuya Station

For those coming from JR Lines like the Yamanote Line or Shonan Shinjuku Line, use the Hachiko Exit (Hachiko-guchi).

  1. Exit the JR line from the Hachiko Gate (ハチ公改札), then immediately step outside from the Hachiko Exit (ハチ公口).
  2. Once you’re out of the Hachiko Exit, proceed straight ahead, and you’ll reach the Shibuya Scramble Crossing.
  3. There’s a crosswalk diagonally to your right leading to Starbucks. Instead, cross the crosswalk one to its left.
  4. After crossing, continue straight forward along that street. Shibuya 109 will be directly in front of you.
  5. With Shibuya 109 on your right, cross the crosswalk directly ahead. On your left, you’ll see Shibuya Cine Tower, which houses TOHO Cinemas Shibuya. The A1 Exit is located right at its entrance.

How to Get to A1 Exit from Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line (Shibuya Station)

From the Hanzomon Line and Den-en-toshi Line, you can reach the A1 Exit via a direct underground connection. First, head towards the Dogenzaka Gate (Dogenzaka Kaisatsu).

  1. First, exit from the Dogenzaka Gate (道玄坂改札).
  2. After exiting the gate, you’ll see an escalator and stairs directly ahead. Take either to go up one level to B1F (Basement 1st Floor).
  3. Once you reach B1F, you’ll see a yellow sign straight ahead indicating “A1 Exit.” Follow the sign towards the A1 Exit.
  4. The A1 Exit is located towards the farthest left in the underground passage. Take the escalator up from there, and you’ll emerge on the 1st floor (ground level).

From the Hanzomon Line and Den-en-toshi Line, you can reach the A1 Exit directly from the platform in just a few minutes via the underground passage.

How to Get to A1 Exit from Tokyu Toyoko Line / Fukutoshin Line (Shibuya Station)

From the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Fukutoshin Line, you can also reach the A1 Exit via a direct underground connection. First, aim for the Dogenzaka Gate (Dogenzaka Kaisatsu).

  1. First, head to and exit from the Dogenzaka Gate (道玄坂改札).
  2. After exiting the gate, you’ll see an escalator and stairs directly ahead. Take either to go up one level to B1F (Basement 1st Floor).
  3. Once you reach B1F, you’ll see a yellow sign straight ahead indicating “A1 Exit.” Follow the sign towards the A1 Exit.
  4. The A1 Exit is located towards the farthest left in the underground passage. Take the escalator up from there, and you’ll emerge on the 1st floor (ground level).

From the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Fukutoshin Line, you can reach the A1 Exit directly from the platform in about 4-5 minutes via the underground passage.

How to Get to A1 Exit from Keio Inokashira Line (Shibuya Station)

From the Keio Inokashira Line, exit from the gate indicated by a yellow sign that says “Exit (Central Exit)” (出口(中央口)).

  1. First, exit from the Central Exit (中央口).
  2. After exiting the gate, you’ll see an escalator diagonally to your left. Take it down to the ground level.
  3. Once you get off the escalator, turn immediately left. You’ll see a pachinko parlor called “ESPACE” diagonally to your left. Take the road to the left of it.
  4. At the next T-junction, turn right. You’ll see Shibuya 109 straight ahead.
  5. Continue straight, and you’ll reach the street where Shibuya 109 is located.
  6. Here, turn left. Walk a short distance, and on your left, you’ll see Shibuya Cine Tower, which houses TOHO Cinemas Shibuya. The A1 Exit is located right at its entrance.

How to Get to A1 Exit from Ginza Line (Shibuya Station)

From the Ginza Line, exit from the gate towards Shibuya Scramble Square (Scramble Square Homen).

  1. From the Ginza Line platform, head towards the Shibuya Scramble Square side gate (スクランブルスクエア方面). (Be careful, there’s another gate on the opposite side).
  2. After exiting the gate, you’ll see ticket machines to your left. Take the passage to their right.
  3. Once you enter the passage, turn immediately left and continue straight along the path.
  4. After walking for about 30 seconds, you’ll find an escalator. Take it down.
  5. After descending the escalator, you’re still on the 2nd floor. There’s another escalator immediately to your right going down. Take that one further down.
  6. After descending this escalator, you’re on the ground level. Immediately turn right.
  7. Walk a short distance, and you’ll see the Miyamasuzaka-shita Intersection (宮益坂下交差点) straight ahead. Just before it, to your left, is the JR Miyamasuzaka Exit (宮益坂口). Enter the building there.
  8. Continue straight through the building. You’ll eventually reach the Hachiko Exit (ハチ公口) on the opposite side. Exit the building from there.
  9. Once out of the Hachiko Exit, proceed straight ahead, and you’ll reach the Shibuya Scramble Crossing.
  10. There’s a crosswalk diagonally to your right leading to Starbucks. Instead, cross the crosswalk one to its left.
  11. After crossing, continue straight forward along that street. Shibuya 109 will be directly in front of you.
  12. With Shibuya 109 on your right, cross the crosswalk directly ahead. On your left, you’ll see Shibuya Cine Tower, which houses TOHO Cinemas Shibuya. The A1 Exit is located right at its entrance.
