MAGNET by SHIBUYA109, located right by Shibuya Station’s Hachiko Square, is a facility produced by 109. It features an observation deck overlooking the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, as well as various restaurants and apparel shops.

Shibuya MAGNET is Right Next to Hachiko Square

MAGNET is situated directly facing Shibuya Station’s Hachiko Square. You can get there by simply crossing the Scramble Crossing, so it’s very close.

How to Get to MAGNET from Hachiko Square

First up, since Hachiko Square is synonymous with Shibuya Station, here are the directions from there:

  1. From Hachiko Square, cross the farthest right pedestrian crossing of the Scramble Crossing.
  2. Once you’ve crossed, you’ll find the entrance to MAGNET on the left side of the “Tianjin Amani” (roasted chestnut) shop located on the corner.

MAGNET is right there as soon as you cross the Scramble Crossing.


How to Get to MAGNET from JR Shibuya Station: Use Hachiko Exit

First, directions from JR Shibuya Station, including the Yamanote Line and Shonan Shinjuku Line. MAGNET is just a 1-2 minute walk from the Hachiko Exit.

  1. After exiting the JR Shibuya Station Hachiko ticket gate, turn left and go out through the “Hachiko Exit.”
  2. You’ll see the Scramble Crossing to your front right. Cross the farthest right pedestrian crossing.
  3. Once you’ve crossed, you’ll find the entrance to MAGNET on the left side of the “Tianjin Amani” (roasted chestnut) shop located on the corner.

MAGNET is right there as soon as you cross the Scramble Crossing.


How to Get to MAGNET from Shibuya Station (Hanzomon Line / Den-en-toshi Line): Use Exit A12

The Hanzomon Line and Den-en-toshi Line are directly connected, so you’ll arrive on the same platform. From underground, aim for Exit A12.

  1. First, exit from the Hachiko Ticket Gate towards the Ginza Line. Be careful, as there’s another ticket gate (towards the Inokashira Line) on the opposite side.
  2. After exiting the gate, there’s a staircase to Exit A12 immediately to your left. Climb these stairs, and you’ll find the entrance to MAGNET.

From the Den-en-toshi Line & Hanzomon Line, you’ll reach it quickly as long as you exit the Hachiko ticket gate in the correct direction.

If you happen to exit from the opposite ticket gate, go out through Exit A6 (which is diagonally to your immediate right). This will bring you out right under the Starbucks at the Scramble Crossing (part of TSUTAYA). Cross towards the “Tianjin Amani” shop, and the MAGNET entrance will be on its left.


How to Get to MAGNET from Shibuya Station (Toyoko Line / Fukutoshin Line): Use Exit A12

Shibuya Station for the Toyoko Line and Fukutoshin Line is underground. First, head towards the Den-en-toshi Line platform, then aim for Exit A12. It takes about 3-4 minutes to walk to MAGNET.

  1. From the platform, find the sign that says “DT Den-en-toshi Line H Hanzomon Line” and follow the escalators upwards as indicated. Other lines like JR and Ginza Line also head in this direction.
  2. After getting off the escalator, follow the signs for “DT Den-en-toshi Line H Hanzomon Line.”
  3. After walking for about 1 minute, you’ll find another escalator marked “DT Den-en-toshi Line H Hanzomon Line.” Take this up to the Den-en-toshi Line platform.
  4. Continue straight along the platform, and you’ll find an escalator with signs for JR Line, Ginza Line, and Hachiko Exit. Take this escalator up.
  5. After getting off the escalator, exit from the Hachiko Ticket Gate towards the Ginza Line. Be careful, as there’s another ticket gate on the opposite side.
  6. After exiting the gate, there’s a staircase to Exit A12 immediately to your left. Climb these stairs, and you’ll find the entrance to MAGNET.

From the Toyoko Line, the key is to first transfer to the Den-en-toshi Line platform. Then, be sure to exit the Hachiko ticket gate in the correct direction.

If you happen to exit from the opposite ticket gate, go out through Exit A6 (which is diagonally to your immediate right). This will bring you out right under the Starbucks at the Scramble Crossing (part of TSUTAYA). Cross towards the “Tianjin Amani” shop, and the MAGNET entrance will be on its left.


How to Get to MAGNET from Shibuya Station (Inokashira Line)

From the Inokashira Line at Shibuya Station, it’s easiest to go via the Scramble Crossing. It takes about 4-5 minutes to walk to MAGNET from the Inokashira Line.

  1. Exit from the Central Ticket Gate of the Inokashira Line.
  2. Immediately after exiting, there’s an escalator diagonally to your left. Take this down.
  3. After getting off the escalator, you’ll be on the ground. Turn left.
  4. Walk a short distance, and you’ll see the Scramble Crossing in front of you. Cross the farthest right pedestrian crossing.
  5. Once you’ve crossed, you’ll find the entrance to MAGNET on the left side of the “Tianjin Amani” (roasted chestnut) shop located on the corner.

From the Inokashira Line, it’s simple as long as you don’t get lost exiting to the ground. First, aim for the Scramble Crossing.


How to Get to MAGNET from Shibuya Station (Ginza Line)

From the Ginza Line, use the Shibuya Scramble Square side ticket gate. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to MAGNET from the Ginza Line.

  1. The first important thing is to exit from the “Shibuya Scramble Square side ticket gate.” There’s a gate in the opposite direction, so double-check carefully.
  2. After exiting the gate, you’ll see ticket machines to your left, but there’s a passageway immediately to the right of those machines. Go there.
  3. Immediately turn left and continue straight along the path.
  4. After walking for about 30 seconds, you’ll find an escalator. Take this down.
  5. After getting off the escalator, you’re still on the 2nd floor. It might be a bit confusing for a moment, but there’s another escalator immediately to your right going down. Take that.
  6. After getting off the escalator, you’ll be on the ground level. Immediately turn right.
  7. Walk a short distance, and you’ll see the Miyamasuzaka-shita intersection in front of you. Cross the pedestrian crossing straight ahead to the opposite side of the road.
  8. After crossing, turn left and proceed.
  9. After passing under the overpass directly in front of you, you’ll arrive at the Scramble Crossing.
  10. The entrance to MAGNET will be on the left side of the “Tianjin Amani” (roasted chestnut) shop, located at the front right corner of that Scramble Crossing.

For the Ginza Line, make sure you don’t use the wrong exit.


MAGNET Opening Hours: 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM (21:00)

MAGNET’s opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM (21:00). This applies to both weekdays and weekends.

SHIBUYA109 also operates from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM (21:00), which is why they say “from 10 AM to 9 PM, that’s 109!”
