Cat Street Access from Shibuya Station: Don’t Get Lost! Detailed Directions & Closest Stops

Cat Street Shibuya Station

Cat Street, located between Shibuya Station and Harajuku Station, is also known as “Ura-Harajuku” (backstreet Harajuku). It’s a vibrant street lined with various apparel shops, vintage clothing stores, and stylish cafes.

So, this time, Shibutama will guide you on how to get to Cat Street from Shibuya Station! We’ll also cover Cat Street’s nearest stations and exactly where Cat Street begins and ends.

Where Does Cat Street Start and End?

First, let’s confirm Cat Street’s location. You’ve probably heard the name often, but specifically, here’s where it is!

Cat Street stretches from Miyashita Park in Shibuya to around Kiddy Land in Harajuku.

In simple terms, that’s its extent. It takes about 5 minutes to walk from Shibuya Station to Miyashita Park, and similarly about 5 minutes from Harajuku Station or Omotesando Station to Kiddy Land. So, determining the absolute nearest station to Cat Street can be tricky. However, I almost forgot one station!

The Nearest Station to Cat Street is “Meiji-jingumae Station”

That’s the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line and Fukutoshin Line subway station, Meiji-jingumae Station. Its location is almost identical to Harajuku Station, but it’s slightly closer to Omotesando, making it the closest access point to the Harajuku side of Cat Street.

However, it can take quite some time to get from the underground platform of Meiji-jingumae Station up to ground level. So, even though it’s technically the closest, there isn’t a huge difference in travel time compared to going from Shibuya, Harajuku, or Omotesando. The Fukutoshin Line, being newer, runs quite deep underground.

So, while I’d consider Meiji-jingumae Station the nearest, Shibuya can also be considered a closest station. Well, Cat Street is long, so determining just one “nearest station” is indeed difficult.
